Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Reverend Daughter of the Ninth House and bone witch extraordinaire, has been summoned into action. The Emperor has invited the heirs to each of his loyal Houses to a deadly trial of wits and skill. If Harrowhark succeeds she will be become an immortal, all-powerful servant of the Resurrection, but no necromancer can ascend without their cavalier. Without Gideon’s sword, Harrow will fail, and the Ninth House will die.
Of course, some things are better left dead.

Great voice, difficult story without text
For someone not native to English it is not easy to get everything in the first hearing. The first part is like getting all the informations to understand in the last part the answers to all what happened. I will listen again to it and I guess will understand more then.

So good!
Great author and great narrator! This was so fun to listen to. Time flew and just like that I had gone through the whole 17h of audio book in record time. The language might be a bit crass for some, but it fits perfectly Gideons personality.
I will make my husband listen to it.

Nette Unterhaltung
Eine recht interessante Mischung aus Fantasy und Sci-fi.
Leider ist die sehr an einen Krimi erinnernde Story recht löchrig und nicht ordentlich durchdacht.

So many plot twists
The story was so good. And the narrator/speaker is amazing. Can't wait to listen to the next part.

Entertaining, witty, fast ans fresh.
I haven't read such a fresh take on the sub-genre of supernatural science fiction in a long, long time. I haven't read such an enjoyable title in a long time. It's as great a surprise as the Imperial Radch was.
One warning: The author will make you care about and love the characters. And you might end up hating them for it.

Fun

Fresh & wonderful take on multiple genres
Took me a bit to get into it as one is simply thrust into the world with little explanation, but once I was in, I was IN. Love esp the way the women are written in this!

An interesting story and a marvellous performance
The voice acting is phenomenal. The story is quite interesting, and the characters are unique and fun to follow.

Well read complex story
Very enjoyable story and telling. Can get quite violent and dark. Lots of characters and names and connections, which I found difficult to follow in audiobook format but which makes it worthwhile listening to more than once or reading the book as well as hearing it. Great work by author and narrator
